On January 13, 2024, Professor Zhang Jianan, a doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University, along with doctoral candidates Wu Jing, Wu Pengfei, and Sun Xueqiang, visited theBioparkfor an inspection and coordination session. They also conducted a field visit to the park's enterprise, Weifang Gefite Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The delegation was accompanied by Zhang Weidong, Party Secretary and Director of the Biopark; Yu Hairui, Conqueren Leading Fresh Science & Technology Inc., Ltd., Professor at Weifang University, and a provincial key talent; and Zhang Guohua, Chairman of Weifang Gefite Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and another provincial key talent.

Professor Zhang Jianan and his delegation visited the public technology platform of the biological park and the national biomedical professional incubator, and learned about the development of bio-pharmaceutical industry in our district, especially the fermentation strain industry. They fully recognized the full chain service mode of "R&D-incubation-pilot test-acceleration-industrialization" and hardware equipment support set up by the park.

At the symposium, Director Zhang Weidong extended a warm welcome to Professor Zhang Jian 'an and his delegation. He expressed the hope to fully integrate the park's biomedical industry cluster advantages with Tsinghua University's academic strengths and talent resources. The initiative aims to establish a collaborative exchange mechanism between the park and Professor Zhang's research team, explore the establishment of a Beijing R&D center, and develop technology commercialization cooperation models in Weifang. By leveraging the park's platform resources, both parties will advance industry-academia-research collaboration in talent development and project implementation.

Professor Zhang Jian 'an presented the team's research achievements in biomass energy and bio-chemical engineering, particularly in fungal bio-synthesis (red yeast rice) and astaxanthin research, as well as their development progress and future directions in cold-water fish farming. He expressed hope to leverage the team's strengths to establish comprehensive cooperation with the Biopark, aiming for mutual benefit. Professor Yu Hairui updated on the company's deep processing project for freshwater salmon. Dr. Zhang Guohua detailed the industrialization status of the "Gefitole 8" product development. The Biopark and Professor Zhang's team held extensive discussions on technical collaboration, innovation platform co-construction, joint research projects, talent cultivation, and senior personnel exchanges, ultimately reaching preliminary cooperation agreements.

In the next step, the botanical Garden will continue to cooperate with Professor Zhang Jianan's team, accelerate the cooperation in project research and development, application of talent and science and technology projects, achievement transformation, expand the cooperation areas between the park and Tsinghua University, deepen the industry-university-research cooperation between the two sides, and promote the early implementation and effectiveness of the cooperation results.
